Occupational Hearing Conservationist Certification Course

Course 1 Details

This three (3) day course is designed to train industrial personnel to conduct and manage a hearing conservation and audiometric testing program. Information presented will allow nurses, safety personnel, industrial hygienist and others to implement an effective industrial program to protect employees' hearing and to meet the Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) standard, 29CFR1910.95, requirements.

Trainees who successfully complete the course will receive certification from the Council for Accreditation of Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC).

• Hearing and Physics of Sound

• Federal and State Regulations RE: Noise and Hearing Loss

• The Audiometer (what it is, how it works and how do I use it?)

• Audiometric Test Environment

• Audiometric Techniques

• Supervised Audiometric Practicum

• Review of Audiometric Testing

• Audiogram Review, Referral and Employee Follow-up

• Principles of Noise Control and Noise Analysis

• Personal Hearing Protection

• Otoscopic Screening and Hearing Protection Fitting Practicum

• Employee Education and Motivation

• Record Keeping

• Role of the Occupational Hearing Conservationist

• Additional Instruction / Practicum

• Review of Hearing Conservation Program

• Testing Practicum and Written Examination
